Research

The IITS is a premier research center recognized by the UNWTO and supporting the mission of the GW School of Business. Our research directly benefits students, alumni, community, industry, business and governments, both in the United States and abroad.

The overall objective of the IITS is to conduct tourism research and development activities that reflect our mission. The IITS encourages interdisciplinary research involving faculty and students throughout the university, including scholars and professionals, nationally and internationally. The institute has been instrumental in research regarding the SAVE (Scientific, Academic, Volunteer, and Education) market and in the formation of the SAVE Travel Alliance. The Alliance provides on-site, needs-driven technical assistance to catalyze collaborative activities that engage international sources of financial and human capital in partnership with local tourism sector stakeholders.
