ICR Board of Advisors

Scott Sklar

President of Stella Group, Inc.

Scott Sklar founded the Stella Group, Inc., which assists emerging distributed power clean energy companies in developing strategic partnerships, to attract capital, and build market share. Stella Group also advises federal, state, and local governments in the creation of public policies to promote use of advanced batteries and controls, concentrating solar power, energy efficiency, fuel cells, heat engines, microgeneration, modular biomass, photovoltaics, and small wind. In addition to ICR, he serves on the boards of directors of the Export Council for Energy Efficiency, the Business Council for Sustainable Energy, the Renewable Energy Policy Project, and the Sustainable Buildings Industry Council.

Mr. Sklar serves as steering committee chair of the Sustainable Energy Coalition, composed of the renewable energy and energy efficiency trade associations and analytical groups. He also sits on the national boards of directors of the non-profit Business Council for Sustainable Energy, Renewable Energy Policy Project, and co-chairs the policy committee of the Sustainable Buildings Industry Council.

Miranda Anderson

Vice President for Investor Analysis

Ms. Anderson specializes in strategic and operational non-profit management, corporate responsibility, and organizational development. Her career has spanned both the non- and for-profit sectors, holding management positions in such industries as energy and environmental development in emerging markets, international development, and wireless telecommunications. Prior to joining the DGA team, Miranda served as the director of operations for Environment2004 (E’04) and the Solar Electric Light Fund (SELF), and provided independent consulting services to a number of private and public organizations.

Ms. Anderson graduated magna cum laude with a BS in psychology from Colorado State University, and earned a MBA from the George Washington University, specializing in environmental management and policy, with particular research on multi-sector partnerships, market-based environmental solutions, and organizational policy at the business, NGO, and government levels.

Dr. Beverly Winterscheid

Founder and Partner of The Institute for Nature and Leadership

Founder and partner of The Institute for Nature and Leadership, which is a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C.. that promotes environmental stewardship and nature-based personal development through stakeholder engagement, citizen education, seminars, retreats and individual counseling. She founded the Institute after a 20-year career in business and academia.

Dr. Winterscheid is a business professor in the Sustainable MBA program at Marlboro College in Vermont teaching leadership development and sustainable people practices and her past publications have concerned the development of core competencies in organizations and trans-national organization learning processes. She assisted in the creation of the Cleveland World Trade Center and was a founding member of the board of the Sustainable Business Network of Washington, D.C.

Lea Sloan

Vice President of Media Relations, the Public Broadcasting Service

Ms. Sloan leads the strategic development and management of communications with the press, member stations, public officials and other key stakeholders. She oversees the staff of the corporate communications, education and online communications, as well as the program information and special events departments.

Prior to joining PAX TV, Ms. Sloan was executive vice president/partner at Gordon Sloan Diaz-Balart beginning in 1994. During her tenure, she managed business development, marketing and public relations for clients such as The Box, Cinecanal, GEMS Television, Paxson Communications, Silver King Communications ( Miami), Travel Channel Latin America, Weather Channel Latin American and others. She has also held the positions of senior vice president/managing director at Bender, Goldman & Helper; vice president, account management, at Shaw/Spelling Associates; and columnist at the Boston Globe.

Ellen Mignoni

Senior Vice President in APCO Worldwide’s Washington, D.C., Office

Ellen Mignoni helped to build APCO’s global corporate responsibility practice. She provides positioning, corporate responsibility and communication counsel for APCO’s corporate clients. She also assists private foundations and nonprofit organizations with strategic planning, positioning, program development and communication.

In addition to serving on the advisory board of the Institute for Corporate Responsibility, Ms. Mignoni also serves on the advisory council of the Harvard Malaria Initiative at the Harvard School of Public Health. Ms. Mignoni holds her MBA in organizational behavior and development from the George Washington University, a master’s from Catholic University of America and a bachelor’s degree from Trinity College.

David Logan

Joint Chair of Corporate Citizenship

David Logan began working on corporate responsibility in 1980 when he joined Levi Strauss & Co in Europe. He later became director of special programs based in San Francisco, where he researched and managed a wide range of ethics, community, social responsibility and environmental concerns worldwide. From 1988 he consulted in the field in the U.S. and in 1996, was a co-founder of The Corporate Citizenship Company in London. He has worked extensively on corporate social responsibility issues in Europe, the U.S. and more than 30 emerging markets of Africa, Asia and Latin America. He advises on CSR and sustainability strategy and has done pioneering work in management and social reporting systems to, measure and report corporate responsibility across all company stakeholders. David is a graduate of London University, with an MA degree in philosophy and an advanced diploma in education. He is currently an adjunct professor of the National College of Ireland, and a visiting fellow in corporate philanthropy at the City University, New York.

Geoff Allen

Founder of the Allen Consulting Group

Geoff Allen started his career as a federal public servant and later served as senior advisor to the minister for labour, federal treasurer, and leader of the federal opposition. Mr. Allen has also been a senior research fellow and adjunct professor at Melbourne Business School. He pioneered the research and teaching of social and political environment of business and business-government relations in Australia. In 1988, he founded the Allen Consulting Group and the Centre for Corporate Public Affairs.

Geoff Allen was educated at Wesley College, Queens College and Melbourne University.

George Littlewood

George Littlewood is an adjunct professor at Deakin and RMIT Universities, chair of the Victorian Forest Industries Association Sustainable Forests Council and a fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. He is also a member of the communications committee of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and Deakin University’s advisory committee for its master’s degree in public policy.

Mr. Littlewood’s other professional interests have included: representative of both the Business Council of Australia and the mining industry on several federal government advisory bodies on biodiversity and ecological sustainability (early 1990s); chairmanship of the CSIRO’s advisory committee for its division of atmospheric research (1996-1997); president of the Institute of Public Affairs (1996-1997) and a trustee of the World Wide Fund for Nature. He has also been deputy chair of the Australian Science Olympiads, and a member of the boards of the Earthwatch Institute, the Myer Foundation’s Cranlana Programme and the Sovereign Hill Museums Association.

Igor Abramov

Director, Good Governance Program, International Trade Administration ,U.S. Department of Commerce

In his career, Mr. Abramov advises both U.S. businesses and the U.S. government on good governance, rule of law, trade, investment, and market access issues. He plans, manages, and implements a good governance program to enhance rule of law-based business environments in Eastern Europe, Russia and Independent States as well as Latin America. He is author, co-author, or editor of numerous articles and three books on corporate governance, commercial dispute resolution, intellectual property rights and business ethics, including, Business Ethics: A Manual for Managing A Responsible Business Enterprise in Emerging Market Economies.

Before joining the U.S. Department of Commerce in 1997, Mr. Abramov practiced law and international consulting in San Francisco, California. A member of the California State Bar, he earned a BA from Columbia University and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center. He was a founding member and editor of the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics.

Flynn Bucy

Founder and President of New Leaf Global, Inc.

For the last 18 years Dr. Bucy has been bringing a unique entrepreneurial approach to addressing the sustainability imperatives of climate change and sustainable development. He has been a catalyst for numerous multi-sectoral partnerships bringing business firms, government agencies, multi-lateral development institutions, civil society organizations and academic institutions together to forge creative solutions to global challenges.

Since 1990 Dr. Bucy has been engaged in a wide range of projects as a strategist, start-up executive, CSR consultant, sustainable energy advisor and a collaboration anthropologist. Dr. Bucy received his PhD in organizational behavior from the George Washington University, and an MBA and bachelor of arts in economics from Baylor University.

Kevin Eckerle

Kevin has spent his career working on environmental sustainability. As an independent strategist and while working with Esty Environmental Partners, Kevin has engaged clients to identify their environmental impacts and develop strategies to mitigate those impacts and grow profitability. Kevin has worked with clients to calculate carbon and water footprints; develop energy, carbon, and water management strategies; and, establish systems for collecting and reporting corporate environmental performance metrics. He also assessed the business risks and opportunities of the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 and the three regional climate initiatives to provide client recommendations on climate change strategy and policy engagement. Previously, Kevin served as a legislative fellow, sponsored by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, on the staff of the Senate Commerce Committee. In the Senate, Kevin worked on marine resource conservation issues and climate change policy, and oversaw the nation’s largest scientific agencies. He worked to expand the education and research authority of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and helped negotiate the final conference agreement on the America Competes Act, which President Bush signed into law.

Kevin earned his PhD from Illinois State University, an MS from the University of Dayton, and an MBA from the George Washington University.
