Join Us for the 2024 ISLSP/CIBER BL Conference
Washington, D.C. | May 2-3, 2024
The 7th International Symposium on Languages for Specific Purposes (ISLSP) & Centers for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) Business Language (BL) Conference will take place at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., May 2-3, 2024. The conference theme is LSP Making Connections Within and Beyond the Classroom. The conference invites educators and scholars in Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP) and Business Language Studies to examine the ways that they are bringing the world into the classroom and the classroom into the world. The theme allows for exploration of both theory and practice in LSP, through lively sessions focused on innovative teaching, empirical research, or community engagement.

Study Abroad @ Home
Study Abroad @ Home program takes full advantage of the rich “local”-international resources here in Washington, DC: It matches business language students with internships at institutions from all over the world but with a base in the nation’s capital. Interns have the chance to use their language proficiency and business skills in a real-world context. The program serves well as a precursor to a longer study or work abroad stint, and for those with more limited financial means, it is seen as an affordable way to make the immersion experience possible at home.

Global Business Languages Journal
Global Business Languages (GBL) publishes original, peer-reviewed articles that make a significant contribution to the field of Business Language Studies. Embracing a broad definition of business, the journal welcomes submissions in a variety of related interdisciplinary subfields within Language for Specific Purposes (LSP), such as language for the arts, law, health sciences, engineering, etc. The journal is published in English, but articles may pertain to any language, including English for nonnative speakers.
